COVID vaccinations are life savers

Jul 27, 2022

covid vaccinations are life savers

COVID-19 vaccinations have been a life saver.

The Health Ministry says vaccinations have managed to prevent the deaths of up to 17,000 people in Malaysia in the last 15 months.

This is according to a study by the Institute for Clinical Research, which also found that Malaysia started to see significant benefits from vaccinations after nearly half the population was fully vaccinated last September.

So far, 98 percent of the adult population has received two doses, while some 16 million people have already been given their first booster shot.

Malaysia unlikely to be placed under MCO again

The Health Ministry has already taken the necessary precautions to deal with the rise in COVID-19 cases, as well as the spread of monkeypox.

As such, the National Recovery Council believes it is unlikely that Malaysia will be placed under a Movement Control Order again.

NRC chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also backed the ministry’s recommendation to step up surveillance on monkeypox, including at international entry points.

Currently, no monkeypox cases have been reported here in Malaysia.

This is slightly lower than recoveries which stood at some 4,800.

Meanwhile, Malaysia reported 9 more fatalities.
