GE15: Early voting underway
Nov 15, 2022
Early voting for the 15th general election, and the Bugaya state seat by-election, is now underway.
More than 224 thousand voters – comprising military and police personnel as well as their spouses – are eligible to cast their ballots.
Polling centers – which are located at state and district police headquarters and military camps – opened at 8am this morning, and will be closed in stages between noon and 5pm, depending on the number of voters.
The Election Commission says after the early voting process…ballot boxes will be placed inside police station lockups for safekeeping.
Ballot papers will only be counted on the actual polling day this Saturday.
-
Speaking of which… wet weather has been forecast for most states on the evening of polling day.
However, the Met Department says KL, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor should experience clear skies in the morning.
-
And, the Election Commission is once again informing, that mobile phones are not allowed to be brought inside polling stations.
Voters will need to hand over their phones when collecting the ballot papers, and pick up the devices on their way out.
The EC says notices and posters about the ban will be placed at voting centers and on its social media channels as a reminder.
