The Youth and Sports Minister has urged Malaysians to stop normalizing the use of physical abuse as a way to ensure obedience and compliance.

Hannah Yeoh tweeted that such action is wrong… whether it is done to spouses, kids or athletes.

She said this following a recent incident, where a school volleyball coach was caught on video slapping two teenage players during a tournament.

A shipment of the Covid-19 bivalent vaccine will be arriving soon…with the eligibility criteria to be announced once it is received.

However, the Health Ministry is urging people not to wait to get their second booster dose, as the current available vaccine is still effective in reducing serious symptoms.

In related news… the Ministry says it is prepared to review its pandemic management policy at the country’s borders, including having tighter health checks…amid the increase in Covid-19 cases in China.

It adds that the two main Covid variants that have been spreading rapidly in China…have been detected here in Malaysia.

The Law and Institutional Reform Minister says the case of a teenage girl who was allegedly raped by a police inspector in Kedah will be taken seriously.

Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said says procedures for handling child witnesses must be followed…adding that no one is above the law.

The Land Public Transport Agency will be meeting with school bus operators today to discuss several issues, including rising costs and a lack of drivers.

And, the Johor Baru City Council has implemented a 500 ringgit fine, for businesses that illegally reserve parking spaces in front of their premises.
