Major flooding hits Johor

Parts of JB, Kluang and Segamat in Johor have been hit by major flooding.
The National Disaster Management Agency says more than 1,200 residents in these districts have been evacuated to relief centers as at this morning.
This, as the Met Department issued a red-alert warning for very heavy rain in parts of Johor, as well as for Pekan and Rompin in Pahang until tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Sabah currently has 464 flood evacuees…while there are nearly 280 victims in Sarawak.

The government cannot rule out the eventual return of the Goods and Services Tax.
Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli says bringing back the GST is just a matter of timing, although steps are being taken to ensure it is not re-introduced prematurely.
He explains says we first have to fix our governance, spending and efficiency of the budget…so that the GST can be implemented successfully.
So far, however, the Prime Minister has ruled out any prospect of re-introducing any new broad-based consumption tax.
