Floods worsen in Johor

More than 26 thousand people have been evacuated to flood relief centers nationwide, as at this morning.
Johor is by far the worst affected…accounting for over 24 thousand of the total evacuees.
The majority of the victims in the state were in the districts of Segamat, Kluang, Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi and JB.
The National Disaster Management Agency says a further 2,100-plus flood victims have also been displaced in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak.
The Met Department has also issued a red-alert for very heavy and continuous rain for Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and parts of Pahang until later today.

Police are confident the so-called ‘kill switch’ announced by the Prime Minister under Budget 2023, can help scam victims prevent significant losses.
It will allow customers to quickly deactivate their bank accounts and app access, if they believe they’ve been a victim of a scam.

The National Higher Education Fund says PTPTN borrowers who’ve sought assistance under AKPK to restructure their loan repayments, will not be eligible for the six-month moratorium announced under Budget 2023.
PTPTN also says borrowers who make a full settlement will receive a 20 percent discount, while those who pay off at least half of their outstanding debt will get a 15 percent discount.

TikTok is set to roll out an option to limit screen time to 60 minutes a day, for users who are aged under 18.
The hugely-popular video application says the feature is to help users stay in better control of their app usage.
