Ramadan Bazaar Traders Need to be Kept in Check

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry should set up booths at all Ramadan Bazaars nationwide, to keep traders in check.

The Consumer’s Association of Penang says having such booths will allow customers to lodge immediate complaints if they feel cheated.

It says currently, the problem of poor hygiene, stale food and high prices at Ramadan bazaars is rampant, because there’s a lack of effective enforcement.

Be careful when eating or selling puffer fish.

The Health Director General reminded the public that it is illegal to sell puffer fish which contain dangerous toxins, and sale of the fish is controlled under federal law.

He was responding to the recent death of an elderly woman in Johor who ate the fish.

The Education Ministry has identified six subjects facing a teacher shortage.

The subjects are Bahasa Malaysia, English, Islamic Studies, Design and Technology, Visual Arts Education and History.

As such, the ministry plans to recruit more teachers from April to June this year.

It adds that it will recruit teachers outside of universities.
