JPJ's Festive Season Traffic Ops To Begin Next Week

The JPJ’s festive season traffic operation will begin next week.
The Transport Minister says Ops Bersepadu will be held from the 18th to the 27th…with monitoring to be stepped up at over 200 locations nationwide that have been identified as accident hotspots.
The usual ban on heavy vehicles will also be implemented during this period.
Highway operator PLUS had earlier said that it expects some two million vehicles to use its network daily during the peak balik kampung rush.

Separately, the Transport Ministry says the East Coast Rail Link project is 42 percent complete.
The project, which crosses Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Selangor, is on course to be operational by early 2027.

Abolishing the mandatory death penalty will not necessarily lead to higher crime rates.
Deputy de-facto Law Minister Ramkarpal Singh this is because there are no studies to conclusively show, that the death penalty is the best measure to prevent serious crimes.
He further explained that there are many other elements that can affect crime rates, such as economic, social and psychological factors.

The Education Ministry has refuted allegations that it costs at least 1.8 million ringgit to build a school classroom.
Its Minster says every project under the Ministry is evaluated according to guidelines and standards set by the government, adding that a statement will be issued soon to address the allegation.
