Pakatan Harapan has won both the Pulai parliamentary and Simpang Jeram state by-elections.

Former Johor state speaker Suhaizan Kayat won in Pulai…with an over 18 thousand majority over his Perikatan Nasional rival.

It also means the unity government has maintained its two-thirds Parliamentary majority, holding 148 out of the 222 seats in the Dewan Rakyat.

Meanwhile, Nazri Abdul Rahman took the Simpang Jeram state seat…with a 3,500-plus majority over his rival from PN.

The Election Commission says voter turnout in Pulai was at just over 47 percent…while it was at over 60 percent in Simpang Jeram.

In other news, the Youth and Sports Ministry is hoping to restructure the current TVET program, to offer weekend courses to working individuals who are looking to upskill.

The Transport Ministry says the preliminary report into last month’s Elmina plane crash will be released this coming Friday.

-

Separately, minister Anthony Loke says the trial run for the ladies-only coaches along the MRT Kajang Line will begin at the end of this month.

The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry is hoping that more incentives can be offered under Budget 2024, to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles.

And, the Foreign Ministry says there’ve been no reports so far of any Malaysian casualties, after a powerful earthquake in Morocco left more than two thousand people dead.
