High-Risk Flood Areas Identified

high-risk flood areas identified

More than 2,500 areas nationwide have been identified as having a high risk of flooding during the monsoon season.

This is based on data of natural disasters from previous years.

The Civil Defense Force says the list allows it to focus on areas that require closer monitoring or special preparation to ensure public safety.

Meanwhile, the Met Department has urged people to be vigilant…with the north-east monsoon and the El Nino phenomenon expected to occur simultaneously next month.

The Health Ministry has rubbished viral news that nurses in the country will be injected with a vaccine against Disease X.

Disease X is a term coined by the WHO…for a hypothetical disease that has yet to emerge, which could cause a future pandemic.

The Selangor government has agreed to declassify the full report on the Batang Kali landslide, which claimed the lives of 31 victims last year.

The report will now be handed back to the National Disaster Management Agency, which will be responsible for distributing the findings to the relevant parties.

Starting next month, applications for admission into TVET institutions will be made through a single channel …to ensure better coordination.

The Deputy Prime Minister also wants institutions to offer more tech-based courses…to meet the demands of foreign companies here.

The government is working on several initiatives to phase out the use of single-use plastics.

The Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Ministry says its also finding ways to encourage small businesses and traders to start offering biodegradable packaging instead.
