Worrying Rise In Youth Mental Health Cases

The government is concerned about the rise in mental health cases among the youth.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa says more than 420 thousand children and teenagers here are currently experiencing the problem.
She adds that the National Center of Excellence for Mental Health will be developing an action plan soon, to better address the issue.

Separately…the Health Ministry is currently obtaining a new date to table the revised anti-smoking bill for second reading.
It had originally been scheduled for second reading in Parliament earlier this month…but this was postponed to make way for urgent government affairs.

CUEPACS wants ex National Service Program trainers to be given priority, to be re-absorbed into the coaching team for PLKN 3.0.
It says this is to ensure the revived program can be carried out more effectively.
It adds that bringing back former trainers will also save the government money, because they wont have to train fresh candidates from scratch.

Charity groups say Gaza remains in desperate need of food and supplies…even after the first two shipments of humanitarian aid were brought into the Palestinian territory from Egypt.
They add that the situation is not expected to improve, because Israeli bombs keep hitting humanitarian workers and civilians.
