Floods Return To Johor

Jan 04, 2024

floods return to johor

4 districts in Johor are currently affected by floods.

According to the Social Welfare Department's portal, about 750 victims are currently at temporary shelters in Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Mersing and JB.

This, as MetMalaysia warned that parts of Johor will experience continuous heavy rain until Sunday.

Meanwhile, Johor's MB has urged residents in flood prone areas to remain vigilant and heed any safety advice issued by authorities.

--

Bukit Aman has confirmed that cops recently arrested a suspected hacker who was allegedly linked to a data breach involving a government agency.

According to the Commercial Crimes Investigation Department, he's accused of trying to sell sets of the data on the dark web, for 200 US dollars in cryptocurrency.

--

The Foreign Affairs Ministry says so far, it has not received any reports of Malaysians being caught up in the recent bombings in Iran, but will continue to monitor the situation there.

The blasts killed an estimated 95 people and injured hundreds of others.

--

Also, Wisma Putra says Malaysia is ready to offer any form of assistance to Japan, following the deadly earthquake there, and the collision involving two planes at Haneda airport.

Meanwhile, Japan has raised the death toll from the New Year’s Day earthquakes to 81.

Authorities add that another 50 people are still missing, some three days after it struck, as time is running out to find more survivors.

This is because the likelihood of survival is greatly reduced after the first 72 hours of an earthquake.
