First Phase Of Book Voucher Registration Ends

The first phase of applications for the RM100 book vouchers for tertiary students has been closed.

This, after 50 thousand vouchers were redeemed within eight hours of being made available.

The Higher Education Ministry says the start date and mechanism for the second phase, will be announced soon.

A new government campaign will be launched soon, to educate families about how to stay safe on social media.

The Communications Ministry says this is part of efforts to curb the rising number of child sexual grooming cases.

It adds that currently, many parents have no idea who their kids are interacting with, or what they’re doing on social media.

The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that a Malaysian climber passed away during an expedition to Mount Denali in Alaska, USA.

Two other Malaysian climbers have also been hospitalized.

Separately, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department says a 57-year-old mountain guide has died, after falling unconscious while hiking Gunung Hitam in Kuala Langat.

Thailand has announced that Malaysians are now allowed visa-free travel to the Kingdom for 60 days…up from the previous 30.

And, reports say Egypt will be hosting talks between the US and Israel, about reopening the Rafah crossing for much needed aid and supplies to be brought into the Gaza Strip.
