Add Capacity, Competition To Address Rising Airfare

The government will not introduce subsidies for international flights, like what it's been doing with domestic trips during the festive season.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke says the airlines themselves have to address the issue of pricing by adding flights and increasing competition.

He said this in response to concerns about high international airfares…after travel picked up post-pandemic.

Malaysia has been upgraded to Tier 2 in the latest Trafficking in Persons Report.

According to data from the US State Department, Malaysia has made significant gains in efforts to prevent human trafficking.

The Fire and Rescue Department will continue monitoring the situation at Mt Kinabalu, after a landslide at the foot of the mountain yesterday.

It says the incident occurred far from residential areas...and did not affect nearby villages.

The MCMC has blocked nearly 550 pornographic websites and almost 70 prostitution portals since January this year.

The Communications Ministry adds that the commission has also removed over a thousand similar types of content from social media sites like X and Telegram.

Health Ministry contract pharmacists will be given permanent positions without going through a re-hiring process, once the new permanent appointment method is introduced.

However, the Ministry says the new appointment method is still subject to performance and approval from department heads.
