qr code charge lands restaurant in hot water

A restaurant owner in Melaka is in trouble with trade enforcement authorities over the QR Code payment system.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry says it opened an investigation into the eatery recently, over complaints that customers had to pay extra if they want to pay their bills via QR Code.

According to officials, the owner claimed the extra cost was to cover a service charge imposed by the cashless transaction service provider.

However, authorities say there are NO such fees.

The owner has already been handed a RM200 compound and could face further action.

The Immigration Department has smashed a begging syndicate in KL that reportedly exploited children for their activities.

It’s believed that the children, aged from 10 months to 6 years, were given cough medication, to make them sleep.

Adults would then take these children with them while begging, just to get more public sympathy and donations.

Police in Kerian, Perak have finished recording statements from everyone involved in a viral video that reportedly showed a schoolgirl being repeatedly slapped by other students.

Cops say the investigation is ongoing, and so far, no arrests have been made.
