Men caught using women’s-only rail coaches will soon face a fine.  

Transport Minister Anthony Loke says currently, there are no legal provisions to hand out such penalties.  

In the meantime, he urged men to show respect for these coaches, which are provided for the safety and comfort of female passengers.  

Rail operators have also been told to step up their monitoring of women-only coaches, to prevent it from happening.

Meanwhile, the government is implementing a comprehensive plan to improve the country’s public transport system.  

The Economy Minister says the plan involves improvements in our bus and rail services, as well as first and last-mile connectivity. 

It will begin with planned upgrades for KL’s bus stations next year, along with improvements to pedestrian walkways.

Malaysian employers and workers need to change their mindset, to ensure that flexible working arrangements can succeed here.  

According to a Dewan Negara senator, employers should give due consideration to the implementation of Work From Home arrangements, as stipulated under our employment laws. 

At the same time, staff who work from home must prove they can maintain or even improve their productivity levels.

Police have obtained a seven-day remand order against the main suspect in a murder-arson case in Pagoh, Johor, which cost the lives of his elderly parents and niece.  

This, after the suspect was detained in KL’s Bukit Bintang area.

Penang has advised residents to use water sparingly, as water capacity at its Air Itam and Teluk Bahang Dams have fallen to critical levels.  

Meanwhile, Perlis says its Timah Tasoh dam has enough water to only last three months.
