Compulsory ABS For 150cc Bikes

Starting January, all motorcycles with a capacity of 150cc and above must have ABS or anti-lock braking systems.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says based on statistics, ABS can reduce bike fatalities by up to 31 percent during accidents.

The DPM adds that the new ruling is part of the government’s efforts to reduce our number of fatal road accidents, which remains one of the highest in the world.

More than half of the inmates in Malaysian prisons, are there for drug-related offences.

The Home Ministry says a further 10 thousand patients are currently in the Narcotics Addiction Rehab Center…while about seven thousand are being rehabilitated within the community.

To address this…the ministry says the government is working to enhance current rehab and treatment programs…while also strengthening laws and enforcement against drug smuggling.

The Malaysian Aviation Commission says passengers of the Malaysia Airlines flight to Seoul that had to turn back due to technical issues, are entitled to refunds.

It says this comes under the latest amendments to the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code, which came into effect this month.

Meanwhile, the Transport Ministry says it is waiting for a full report regarding the turnback incident.

The Health Ministry says Malaysia is set to receive antiviral drugs and vaccines for Mpox via the ASEAN Response Fund.

It also clarified that the vaccine will only be given to high-risk groups or after an evaluation by a medical expert…clarifying that there will be no general vaccination program.

The Communications Ministry has rubbished claims that a Palestinian flag was flown during the National Day parade.

It says the flag in question, on one of the helicopters during the fly-past, was actually a Malaysian Armed Forces flag.
