2 Held Over JB Odour Pollution

Police have confirmed the arrest of two individuals over their alleged involvement in the odor pollution in Johor Bahru.
They are being probed under the Penal Code for causing damage by discharging effluents into public water supplies.
Cops add that the two suspects have no prior convictions.
However, they were previously detained for the illegal dumping of chemicals in Kota Tinggi last month.
Meanwhile, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has assured that those responsible WILL face the full brunt of the law.
And according to the Health Ministry around 140 people have so far received treatment due to the odor pollution, while 4 people, including a pregnant woman had to be hospitalised.

The Muslim Restaurant Owners Association has urged JAKIM to hold consultations with small Bumiputera companies, over a proposal to make Halal certification compulsory for all eateries that don't serve pork or alcohol.
PRESMA says it’s so that the department can understand the financial challenges faced by small businesses, when it comes to applying for the certs.
Meanwhile, cops have finished recording a statement from Seputeh MP Teresa Kok over her comments about the compulsory halal certs proposal.

A Johor school bus driver has been charged in court after he was nabbed for allegedly recording videos of primary school girls without their parents’ consent and uploading them on social media.
He pleaded NOT guilty on two counts of physical and non-physical sexual assault of children.
If convicted he could face a jail term of up to 20 years as well as caning.
