Zahid: "Review The Education Policy!"
Sep 16, 2024
Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called for a review of the education policy on examinations for Primary 6 and Form 3 students.
He says this is necessary following revelations that 27% of Year 1 pupils nationwide have problems with reading, writing and counting.
The DPM adds that the Education and Higher Education Ministries have also identified these three issues as the reasons why over 10,100 students failed to sit for the SPM exams last year.

On a separate matter, Zahid says no decision has been made yet to mandate halal certification for food establishments.
He clarified that the Cabinet will discuss the matter at its meeting later this week.
He adds that the Prime Minister has also instructed the Religious Affairs Minister to provide an update on the status of the proposal during the meeting.
Last week, the minister announced that officials are considering a proposal for halal certs to be made mandatory for eateries that do not serve pork or alcohol.
