Health DG: Active Covid-19 cases dip below 1,000

The number of active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia dipped below 1,000 for the first time since March, as the Health Ministry announced just 8 new daily infections yesterday.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says the number of active cases is now just at 986, while the total positive cases stand at 8,453.

Of the total, 121 cases were fatal, with one more death reported yesterday involving a foreigner who was detained at the Bukit Jalil immigration depot.

The Health DG says the country’s mortality rate remains remarkably low compared to most countries worldwide, at below 1.5%.

Employers are considering how to approach new health and safety procedures to prevent the emergence of new Covid-19 cases, as we all start heading back to work .

Malaysian Employers Federation executive director Datuk Shamsuddin Bardan informs us how to psychologically ease employees into feeling safe in the workplace...


"Employers must make sure that physically the company must comply with all the SOP as being stated by the government especially on social distancing and sanitisation at the workplace."

"Employers should also make a point to frequently communicate with the employees on the status of Covid19 at the workplace and also at the community area where they are operating.”

Meanwhile, the Employment Recruitment Incentives Programme under the National Economic Recovery Plan is starting today.

Employers with job vacancies and are looking for employees can register their profiles at SOCSO's official website.

633 notices issued to barbershop and hair salon owners

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry has issued 633 notices to owners of barbershops and hair salons since they were allowed to reopen from June 10.

The notices were issued to them to explain the increase in service charges at their premises.
