Health DG: Hospital visits still not allowed

Malaysians are still not allowed to make hospital visits, even though the Covid-19 pandemic appears to be slowing down in the country.

Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says its because the threat of the infection is still there at hospitals

“As of now, we still have restrictions for those who wish to visit family members who are hospitalised, as the risk of infection is still there.

“So, our advice is for people not to bring along children or elderly people to the hospitals.

“Those who come to the hospitals will still be screened to ensure they do not have symptoms.

Meanwhile, Dr Hisham says Malaysia is no longer treating patients with anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine, as it has been found to be ineffective.

Up to 40,000 jobs to be created

The Human Resources Ministry says up to 40,000 jobs will be created for locals who are jobless following the Covid-19 pandemic through initiatives under the National Economic Recovery Plan.

The job opportunities will be opened up in stages within 6 months from now.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has assured that it will investigate every job termination adding that measures are being taken to expedite the backlog of investigations.

Hydroxychloroquine stopped being used after no positive effects

The Health Ministry has stopped using hydroxychloroquine to treat Covid-19 patients.

Its Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says data showed the anti-malaria drug has no positive effect...

The use of hydroxychloroquine became controversial following reports of deaths in some countries due to reported arrhythmia, irregular heart rate and cardiac arrest among patients it was given to.

Meanwhile, nolocal transmissions of Covid-19 involving Malaysians were reported yesterday, only the second time this has occurred after the first on June 9th.

However, 15 new cases of infection were recorded, taking our tally to 8,587 cases.
