Today is the last day for you to file your income tax returns!

The deadline for tax returns has always been April 30th and May 15th, but the Inland Revenue Board decided to extend the deadline to June 30th due to the MCO.

The penalty for late filing is 10% on the balance of unpaid taxes after the deadline, today. 

If the income tax and penalty are not paid within 60 days, another penalty of 5% will be imposed on the amount owed.

No more after-party at social events

Guests at social events including weddings and celebratory gatherings will not be allowed to hang out after the party is done.

The National Unity Ministry says guests are also required to be seated following social distancing rules and will not be allowed to have buffet style meals as well. 

Starting tomorrow, you will be allowed to organise large scale social events, but such events must not last for more than 5 hours while your guest list must be capped at 250 people.

The Health Ministry has warned of action, including a jail term, after almost a quarter of people who completed their home quarantine had yet to get retested for Covid-19.

Datuk Dr Noor Hisham says nearly 6,000 people were discharged on June 10 and allowed to finish the remaining of their 14-day quarantine period at home.
