Jun 30, 2020

Only 2 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Msia today, one of the lowest daily figures on record.

The Health Ministry adds that 20 more patients were discharged from hospital, meaning that the number of active cases is now down to 164.

Malaysia has now gone 16 days without any coronavirus-related deaths, with the figure unchanged at 121.

The govt has further eased restrictions along the country's borders with Thailand and Singapore.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says Msians in Singapore who want to return can now do so without applying for a MyPass permit.

Further details on this will be announced later.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Ismail says the immigration, customs, quarantine and security complexes in Padang Besar, Perlis and Durian Burung, Kedah will be reopened.

However, access will be restricted to cargo and commercial vehicles.

Shopping mall operators say business is slowly starting to pick up, now that the country is in the Recovery MCO phase.

The Malaysia Shopping Malls Association says malls are seeing an increase in visitors at their premises, after the sector saw 1.8 billion ringgit in lost sales during the period from March to May.

Meanwhile according to the Malay Mail, one mall operator says it expects the number of visitors to reach 75 to 85% of pre-MCO levels by the end of the year.
