Strict quarantine measures are back

Jul 21, 2020

Those returning from overseas will no longer be allowed to undergo their mandatory quarantine at home.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says starting this Friday, returning Malaysians and permitted foreigners must undergo quarantine at designated centres.

He adds that those being quarantined will have to bear the cost themselves.

Active COVID-19 cases now at 130

The number of Malaysia's active COVID-19 cases has risen to 130, after 15 more infections were reported today.

11 are local transmission, and 10 of them are Malaysians.

This brings our total number of cases to 8,815.

Meanwhile Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has reminded the public to continue following SOPs, especially when around the elderly.

The death toll still stands at 123.

No more Mr. Nice Guy

It seems more people are choosing to ignore SOPs under the Recovery MCO.

As such, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says, police will no longer issue warnings for RMCO rule breaches.

Instead, anyone caught violating regulations will face harsher penalties.

He says this is after police recorded a rise in arrests for flouting the RMCO.
