Health DG: MCO will re-enforced if Covid-19 cases go up

The Health Ministry says the Movement Control Order or the Conditional MCO will be re-enforced if local transmission of positive Covid-19 cases escalate.

It says the government would have no choice but to do so, to break the chain of Covid-19 infection in the community.

The Ministry says the recent rise of COVID-19 infections in the community was because people had violated SOPs.

This comes as 13 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, after recording double digits in new cases over the last week.

The fresh cases pushes the total number of infected patients nationwide to 8,956 with 220 active cases.

PDRM is expecting 2 million vehicles to be on the highways from today until this Sunday in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha.

It says officers and policemen will be stationed to monitor traffic flow in hot spots and highways identified as likely to be congested.

Meanwhile, PLUS is urging motorists from KL and Selangor heading towards Perlis, Kedah, Penang, North Perak and Johor to enter the highway before 9am.

Those heading to other destinations are advised to get into the highway after 2pm from today until tomorrow.

Also, make sure you have sufficient balance in your Touch‘n Go card as PLUS will close the reload lanes at toll plazas.

Selangor is looking to provide a million reusable face masks to school children in the state next month, to ease the burden of parents.

The Menteri Besar says the face masks will be distributed to all primary and secondary school students as well as to religious schools except private school students.

Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari says private school students will not be affected as he is confident their parents could afford them.
