No need to wear face masks in your own car

Aug 03, 2020

The government has clarified that you don't have to wear a face mask in your own private vehicle.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob explained that you must only wear a face mask on public transport like e-hailing vehicles, buses, and trains, as well as in crowded places.

On a related note, police will cancel fines issued to those for not wearing a mask in private vehicles.

The number of active COVID-19 infections now stands at 208, after two new cases were reported today.

Both are local transmissions, including one linked to the Sivagangga cluster in Kedah.

The death toll remains unchanged at 125.

Students from the B40 famlies can be exempted from paying the cost of their mandatory quarantine after returning from overseas.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismai Sabri Yaakob says they must first make an appeal.

Meanwhile, he adds that those who can't afford to undergo their quarantine period at hotels, can do so at Public Training Institutes instead.
