New COVID-19 cluster detected in KL

A new COVID-19 cluster has been detected in KL, linked to a restaurant in Titiwangsa.

The Health Ministry says the first cases were among the restaurant workers, while contact tracing found a patron was infected by the coronavirus. 

Almost 680 others have undergone screening. 

Active COVID-19 infections drop to 179

13 COVID-19 patients were released from hospital today, compared to just nine new cases. 

Of the new casese, five are local transmissions.

This means the number of active infections has gone down to 179.

The death toll remains unchanged at 125. 

Government to investigate all those accused of breaking quarantine SOPs

No one is exempt from being punished if caught breaching quarantine SOPs, including politicians. 

The Deputy Health Minister says the government will thoroughly look into anyone accused of ignoring the rules. 

This is after claims that a minister failed to observe their 14-day mandatory quarantine period after returning from overseas.
