Msia reports triple-digit new COVID-19 cases

Malaysia's new COVID-19 cases reached triple digits today

100 new infections were reported, 23 of which involved the Sungai Cluster, while 62 were linked to the Benteng cluster in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has assured that the Benteng cluster is under control.

This is because the cases involved  lockups. and there are no infections within the community.

Meanwhile, the death toll still stands at 128.

Sabah election is still good-to-go

The upcoming Sabah election will go on as scheduled, despite the surge in COVID-19 cases in Tawau and Lahad Datu. 

The Election Commission echoed the Health Ministry's statement, that the Benteng cluster is under control, adding it will not pose a threat to the voting process.

It also assured that strict SOPs will be in place.

In a related development, the Court of Appeal has rejected an appeal by 33 Sabah assemblymen, against the dissolution of the state legislative assembly.

MACC probes Selangor river pollution

The MACC has launched an investigation into the river pollution that resulted in a major water disruption in the Klang Valley last week. 

It says it will look for any possible elements of corruption. 

This, as reports said that the factory blamed for the pollution has been operating illegally since 2014.
