Many multi-cornered fight in Sabah election

Sep 12, 2020

It will be an epic do-or-die battle for Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar in the upcoming Sabah polls!

It will be a 5-cornered fight for Warisan's Shafie in Senallang, while UMNO's Bung Moktar will witness a 5-cornered fight in Lamag.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, whose action in challenging the Warisan-led state govt led to an early state election, was a no-show at nomination day.

This, amid speculation that he was attempting a comeback, after he appeared to suggest in a social media post that he would contest the Sungai Manila seat.

The Sungai Sibuga state seat, which Musa previously held, is now witnessing a 5-cornered fight.

On the other hand, PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has mooted Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor as a possible chief ministerial candidate, if the state opposition coalition wins.

However, according to MalaysiaKini, Muhyiddin qualified his statement by saying that this will also require agreement from Bersatu's allies.

The PM had earlier noted that the cooperation between Perikatan Nasional, BN and Parti Bersatu Sabah will be known as Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, if it wins at the polls.

The 14-day campaign kicks off today untill the polling day on September 26
