No nationwide MCO for now

Oct 06, 2020

Malaysia will not be placed under a nationwide Movement Control Order for now, following the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.

PM Tan Sri Muhiyddin Yassin says the government will instead enforce a Targeted Enhanced MCO in high risk areas.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin also acknowledged that last month's Sabah election was one of the reasons for recent spike.

However, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says the election had to go on, as they were duty bound to do so under the constitution

He also reminded the nation to follow SOPs and to use the MySejahtera app amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Malaysia reports 691 new COVID-19 cases

Malaysia recorded its highest number in daily COVID-19 cases today, with 691 new infections.

More than half of them were from the Tembok Cluster in Kedah.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has detected two new clusters, namely the Batu Cluster in Perak, and Ramai-Ramai Cluster in Sabah.

Four patients have succumbed to the coronavirus, raising the death toll to 141.

Interstate travel ban to and from Sabah for two weeks starting October 12th

The government is set to enforce an interstate ban to and from Sabah, starting October 12th until the 25th.
