CMCO in Sabah, Selangor, KL and Putrajaya

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says Selangor, KL and Putrajaya will be placed under a Conditional MCO starting Wednesday, until October 27th.  

This follows a rise in COVID-19 cases in areas including Klang, Petaling and Gombak.

Throughout the CMCO, inter-district travel will be prohibited without proper authorization, while educational, social and religious activities are banned. 

Only 2 people per household are allowed to leave their homes to buy essential items. 

A CMCO will also be implemented in Sabah, from midnight tonight until October 26th. 

Meanwhile, a Targeted ENHANCED MCO will come into force in Tawau’s Felda Umas, also from midnight.

New cases are still in the triple-digit range

563 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Malaysia today, and only ONE of them was an imported case. 

Sabah had the highest number of new infections, at 291, due to large scale testing in TEMCO and CMCO areas. 

Penang also reported a jump in new cases, with 141 infections linked to the Remand Prison there. 

Selangor had 69 new cases and KL 28. 

The overall death toll has risen by 2, to 159

Researchers in Hong Kong have found that an affordable drug that's currently used to treat stomach ulcers can also help combat the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, another international study suggests that the anti-Tuberculosis vaccine BCG can also help fight off the virus.

Separately, a South Korean drugmaker has been given the green light to expand clinical trials on an experimental COVID-19 drug.
