Sabah extends operating hours of certain businesses during CMCO

Oct 17, 2020

Starting today, operation hours for certain businesses in Sabah will be extended by another two hours, during the Conditional MCO there.

State authorities say the businesses include eateries, pharmacies, convenience stores and petrol stations.

They can now operate from 6am to 8pm daily.

Three new COVID-19 clusters nationwide

Malaysia detected three new COVID-19 clusters yesterday, one each in Perak, Kedah and Selangor.

The Health Director General says they are the Lekir cluster in Perak, Buntar cluster in Kedah, and the one in Selangor is called the Merbok cluster.

Sources of the new clusters are still being investigated.

Up to 80% of COVID-19 cases in Sabah are asymptomatic

A majority of COVID-19 cases in Sabah are highly contagious, despite showing mild or no symptoms.

The Health Director General says this is because the virus load was higher in the body during the early stages.

He adds that the high infectivity rate could be due to a mutation of the coronavirus.
