Big drop in daily COVID-19 cases

Only 970 new COVID-19 infections were reported nationwide today, a huge drop compared to the 2 thousand plus new cases reported yesterday. 

Negeri Sembilan had the highest number of cases, at 318, and Health Director General, Tan Dri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says most of them are linked to a prison cluster.

Sabah reported 293 new cases, Selangor 115, Perak 80. 

The death toll is up by 4 to 345.

HR Ministry to organise screening of all foreign workers

The HR Ministry will set up a screening schedule for foreign workers in Msia, due to the high number of Covid-19 cases in construction sites and foreign workers' dormitories.

Senior Minister for Security, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the screening will focus on one million workers, primarily in states with many ports or harbours.

He adds that for NOW, the govt has no plans to conduct regular screenings of foreign workers, similar to what's being done in Singapore.. 

On another note, he says 2 areas will be placed under an Enhanced MCO, from Friday until December 10th. 

They involve housing areas in Mukim Sungai Seluang, in Kulim Kedah;  and Taman Telipok Ria, in Tuaran Sabah.

As for the Conditional MCO in KL and Selangor, Datuk Seri Ismail says a decision on whether to lift or extend it will be made a week before it is due to end on December 6th.

Kids won't get immediate access to COVID-19 vaccine

Children aged 12 and below will NOT be among the first group of people who will receive the COVID-19 vaccine, when it becomes available. 

Science, Technology and Innovations minister Khairy Jamaluddin told the Dewan Rakyat it's because so far, the vaccines have not been tested on young children.. 

Malaysia hopes to get the vaccine by the first quarter of next year, with priority to be given to frontliners.
