Malaysia will closely monitor the use of the Covid-19 vaccine in the UK.
Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this, following reports of Pfizer-BioNTech’s approval for its vaccine to be rolled out in the UK for emergency cases by next week.
However, Dr Hisham clarified that Putrajaya will not approve the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use in Malaysia as the approval does not mean that it has been registered.
The Teratai cluster that is linked to a manufacturing company in Klang, Selangor has seen in-community spread of Covid-19.
The Health Ministry found about 150 positive cases involving Malaysians who live outside the area in Klang that are now under the enhanced MCO.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s number of new COVID-19 cases returned to triple digits yesterday, with more than 850 cases.
A Targeted Enhanced MCO is not set to be enforced in Kuantan, Pekan and Bentong.
The Pahang govt said this to debunk a recent viral message.
