Malaysia needs a targeted version of the MCO to control the recent spike in Covid-19 cases.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says the government healthcare system is at a breaking point...

"We need to enhance further to open up more wards and ICU beds, but we also need to look into our logistics, in terms of human resource to manage the patient, but more importantly to control, we need a circuit breaker to
control, to bring down the cases to 200 before we can manage the whole situation better.” 

Dr Hisham says discussions are ongoing with the national security council to come up with options including how to better protect green zones.

The flood situation on the East Coast has worsened with another casualty reported, while the number of flood victims evacuated to relief centres continues to climb.

More than 35 thousand evacuees are currently displaced in Pahang, Johor, Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan and Sabah.

Umno will raise a motion to sever ties with Bersatu in GE15 during its annual general assembly at the end of this month.

Following its Supreme Council meeting last night, the party says among other motions that will be raised include to strengthen its relations with PAS through the Muafakat Nasional pact, and to push for GE15 before the end of the first quarter of this year.

Bersatu on the other hand, will be issuing a statement today over the matter.

This amid reports of a widening rift between notable party leaders over Umno’s continued support for the Perikatan Nasional government.
