The Higher Education Ministry is collaborating with public universities on a guideline concerning to the false use of the doctorate degree title.

Besides looking into how the award is so easily conferred, the collaboration will also look at the possibility of making the act a crime.

The issue of the use of fake PhD titles became a hot case after a company founder recently admitted to possesing a false honorary doctorate degree from Universiti Malaya.
