Amendments to the Domestic Violence Act will be tabled for the first reading in the Dewan Rakyat today.
The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry says the amendments are not just aimed at tackling physical violence, but emotional and psychosocial abuse as well.
Examples include the theft of a pension card, issues involving property, and the husband divorcing wives via WhatsApp.
The amendments will also protect husbands and family members from abuse, including in-laws.
