Police will tighten security at Malaysia's borders.

May 25, 2017

Police will tighten security at M'sia's borders following the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao by the Philippine president.

The IGP says authorities will keep a closer eye on waters adjacent to the Philippines as well, but will not increase the number of security personnel on duty.

More than 200,000 people residing in the city of Marawi, Mindanao have been ordered to leave their homes following the declaration of Martial Law.

Meanwhile, president Rodrigo Duterte says he is considering extending the order nationwide to curb the influence of militancy.
