A father's abuse drove a 12-year-old girl in Puchong to run away from home.

She was found at a petrol station in Puchong Prima just past midnight 2 days ago.

She had scratches and cuts on her arms, thighs and calves from the frequent canings, often over trivial reasons. 

The girl was also found with a head injury, while the police say her mother had also run away because of her abusive husband.

But it's unclear where the woman is.

The child is being treated at the Serdang hospital, while the case is being investigated under the Child Act.
