Stalking your former spouse could become an offence under the Domestic Violence Act soon.

Jul 26, 2017

Stalking your former spouse could become an offence under the Domestic Violence Act soon.

The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry says it will work with activists and NGOs to build up a case, before going to the government.

Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim says it's not possible to include stalking in the act yet...

She said "Kesalahan stalking itu mesti dimasukan ke dalam penal code sebagai jenayah, then baru kita boleh buat concequence to that."

She also confirmed the Domestic Violence Act will only protect victims who are legally wedded, and not cohabiting couples.

Unmarried victims of home violence can instead seek recourse under the Penal Code.

For more on this, head over to Astro Awani Channel 501.
