"It is not illegal to receive gifts"

Jun 28, 2018

A day after the police revealed seizures at 6 premises linked to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak came up to 1 billion ringgit, the former premier has defended the haul, saying it's not illegal to receive presents.

He told MalaysiaKini foreign leaders and personal friends gave him many gifts over the years, adding there's no law in Malaysia against that.

However, he insisted the 1 billion ringgit valuation was unrealistic as some of the precious stones in the jewelry was about 20 years old.
