He told Sinar Harian, many members turned their backs on the party once Umno lost power, and urged for such people to leave the party.

Meanwhile, Perlis Pribumi says it has accepted nearly 4,000 former Umno members since Pakatan won GE14.

Separately, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin wants the party president to explain why he was removed from Johor, and made Perlis Umno chief instead.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim: it was a promise!

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he decided to contest PKR's presidency because he promised he would 20 years ago.

Anwar does not hold an official post in the party, but hopes to replace his wife as president in party elections, which will be held next month.

Anwar also pledged allegience to PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and promised to back him up as his named successor.

Defence Ministry: investigations are completed.

The Defence Ministry has completed investigations into the death of a Royal Malaysian Navy officer cadet in Lumut, and it's now a police case.

The victim died while undergoing training back in May.

Foul play has been ruled out, but his family says the victim told them he was being abused, in a phonecall made before his death.
