News Wrap-up: Families Unhappy With MH370 Report, HFMD May Have Claimed Two Lives

Jul 31, 2018

Families Not Happy With MH370 Report

A report on MH370 was released yesterday, but the families of passengers onboard the missing plane are unhappy with it, saying no real answers were given.

The 449-page report did not assign blame to any party, and did not explain why the plane disappeared.

The Malaysian investigation team's leader Datuk Kok Soo Chon said the report is not final, but insisted this was the right time to release it.

"This report is released at this point of time because we don't know if there will be another search at this point of time, or if another team will be assigned this. But as far as this team is concerned, we've done our job, we're ready to release it (the report)"

Malaysians Return From Quake-Hit Lombok

16 Malaysians who were affected by the earthquake in Lombok, Indonesia have returned home safely.

As of last night, 21 other Malaysians were still stranded on Mount Rinjani with about 500 hikers.

The evacuation process has begun, but it is difficult due to landslides on the main road to the mountain.

Meanwhile, the remains of a Malaysian lecturer who died in the quake will be brought home this morning.

HFMD May Have Claimed Two Lives

The Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease death toll could stand at two, after tests confirmed a 17-month-old boy in Penang died of the disease last month.

A toddler in Sarawak is also suspected to have died of the disease, but tests are still being conducted to confirm this.
