Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wins the PKR president's post uncontested

He's no longer the de-facto leader - Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has won the PKR president's post uncontested.

The 70 year old's wife and DPM Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is not contesting, to make way for her husband. 

However, the official announcement of Anwar as PKR president will only be made later this week. 

Meanwhile, Nurul Izzah Anwar, Tian Chua and Dr Xavier Jayakumar will be defending their vice-presidents seats in the upcoming party polls while fellow vice-president Rafizi Ramli is going for the Deputy President's post, going head to head with incumbent Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

Selangor MB: water tariffs not be raised for now

The Selangor MB has guaranteed water tariffs in the state, KL and Putrajaya will not be raised for now, but whether the subsidies will be retained depends on whether the state can afford it. 

This comes afer Selangor purchased water company Splash for 2.55 billion ringgit last Friday, inciting concerns of a water tariff hike.

A 7-magnitude earthquake strikes Lombok in Indonesia

A 7-magnitude earthquake has struck Lombok in Indonesia, a week to the day of another devastating earthquake which killed a Malaysian.

The death toll from yesterday's quake currently stands at 82.

Tremours were also felt on the neighbouring island of Bali, while a tsunami warning has been lifted.

Airports on both Lombok and Bali are operating normally, and Air Asia says flights are not affected.

And 6 people have been arrested in Venezuela for attempting to assasinate the president with drone bombs. 

President Nicolás Maduro has blamed Colombia and the country's Opposition for the incident but provided no evidence.
