Under the new deal, construction on the HSR project will only begin in 2020, with services expected to start in 2031.

Malaysia will pay Singapore 45 million ringgit for deferring the project, and KL will have to pay additional costs if the project is scapped later on.

During the suspension period, both countries will "continue to discuss on the best way forward for the HSR Project, with the aim of reducing costs".

No conflict of interest !

A former UIAM deputy rector says there is no conflict of interest in the apppointment of Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik as UIAM president.

He pointed out that previously, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held the same post, back when he was Education Minister.

Maszlee's appointment was criticised by several people in both sides of the political divide.

Khairy Jamaluddin has dismissed claims that he will be joining PH in the near future.

In a Tweet, the Rembau MP said not only will he remain in UMNO, but also hinted that he may go for the party presidency in 2021.

Good news for prepaid phone users

Good news for prepaid phone users, because starting tomorrow you get full value on your reloads.

This, after the Finance Ministry issued an official order for telcos to stop charging SST on prepaid reload cards.

However, it didn't state the penalty if they failed to do so.

This follows complaints from prepaid users that they were getting less value than what they paid for.

In other news:

A WHO report says more than a quarter of people worldwide are not doing enough physical exercise, putting them at risk of health probelms including heart disease, type-2 diabetes and some cancers.

It adds, high-income countries were among the least active.

In general, women were found to be more sedentary than men, except for east and Southeast Asia, where women are more physically active.

According to the WHO, people are considered inactive, if they do less than 150 minutes of moderate exercise, or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise a week.
