Datuk Seri Azmin Ali: We will examine it first

The Economic Affairs Ministry says the government will have to first examine the financial feasibility of building the planned crooked bridge connecting Johor and Singapore.

This, after the Johor MB recently said that talks will be held about reviving the project, that was first proposed by Tun Dr Mahathir back in 2003.

Better protection for kids !

The law has been amended, to better protect kids from being exploited for child labour.

The Human Resources Ministry says those who employ children under 15, or who use them for dangerous jobs, face a jail term of up to five years.

Separately, the Ministry says the issue of the country's minimum wage will be discussed by the Cabinet next week.

It comes after over a hundred people gathered outside the Parliament yesterday, to protest against the setting of the minimum wage at 1,050 ringgit, which they feel is too low.

In other news:

The UMNO Supreme Council is prepared to hold an emergency meeting to discuss what to do, in the event that party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is arrested by the MACC today. 

The former DPM was told to be present at the MACC headquarters later this afternoon. having been questioned several times regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds from a charity. 

Both the Umno president and MACC have yet to confirm rumours of the arrest.

And, the MCA will remain as a Chinese-based party, despite its heavy defeat in GE14. 

Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Kah Siong says feedback from members has shown that 80 percent wanted the party to stick to its roots.
