JPJ welcomes calls compulsory express bus seat belts
Dec 26, 2016
The JPJ has welcomed calls for the mandatory use of passenger seatbelts in express buses.
It says while the govt has yet to make it compulsory, bus companies should take the initiative and provide them for passengers.
The JPJ will also look into a proposal to ban express buses from making late-night and early-morning trips.
The dept says the suggestion has been brought up before, but it wasn't implemented due to demand from the industry and public.
This, after 14 people were killed and 16 others were injured in the recent express bus crash in Pagoh, Johor.
