UN members vote against America's decision on Jerusalem

Dec 22, 2017

Shortly before the 193-members of the UN were due to vote on a resolution to condemn America's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital, the US Ambassador threatened the room.

Nikki Haley said the US will remember the day it was singled out for attack for its opinions, and also warned it will withhold financial contributions to the UN and nations who voted for the resolution.

But her words were useless as 128 countries - or 66% of members - voted against the US, pushing it to cancel its decision on Jerusalem.

The resolution is non-binding, and the US is adamant it will keep its embassy in the ancient city.
