Home Ministry calls for probe into funds transferred to North Korea's leadership

Apr 11, 2017

The Home Ministry has called for an investigation into the possible transfer of funds from the country to North Korea's leadership.

This, following a Reuters report claiming that the North Korean head of a conglomerate here, had been funneling cash to Pyongyang for years.

The Ministry wants Bank Negara to see if there's been any misuse of the country's banking systems, which could damage KL's reputation as a financial centre.

Separately, the Immigration Department has given a group of 117 North Korean nationals working illegally in Sarawak, one week to turn themselves in, or be hauled in by the authorities.
