Bukit Merah water park to remain closed

Oct 07, 2016

The Bukit Merah water park in Perak will remain closed, despite a water sample showing it to be free of Rotavirus.

The state Health Department says the park will only be allowed to reopen if a 2nd water sample also shows it is free of infection.

The water park had been ordered to close for 2 weeks from last Thursday, following several cases of acute gastroenteritis and Rotavirus among some visitors.

Meanwhile, the Perak Menteri Besar has urged the Health Ministry make an official announcement declaring the theme park free of Rotavirus, as per the results of the first test.

He said such an announcement is important to protect the state's tourism sector.
