Boy injured in go-kart mishap recovering well in hospital

Sep 27, 2016

The 7-year-old boy who was injured in a go-kart race in Pahang on Sunday is recovering well in hospital.

A CT scan showed he suffered no serious internal injuries, but doctors will conduct eye tests today because his eyelids are still swollen.

The boy's mother was injured as well while his father and sister passed away, after a go-kart rammed into them.

Meanwhile, UTM, who organised the go-kart race, has denied allegations that it applied for a safety permit for the race from the Automobile Association of Malaysia, AAM.

It says it applied for the permit from the Motorsports Association of Malaysia, as it had done for the past 9 years.

This follows allegations by AAM that UTM continued the Education Innovation Motosports Automotive Race without their permit, due to the high cost.

This, as the Motorsports Association of Malaysia, MAM has admitted to being the one who authorised the go-kart race.

It says UTM had promised to ensure safety in all areas of the race, including spectator zones.
